Des Bishop

Follow @DesBishop

Des moved from Queens to Ireland in his mid-teens in 1990. He first came to prominence with his extraordinary TV series The Des Bishop Work Experience (2004)

where he lived on minimum wage in a series of different jobs in Ireland. Since then he has been a perennial figure on TV and stages the world over, most recently with his satirical news programme This Is Ireland with Des Bishop and Dancing With the Stars both with RTE.

The Queen of Ireland, National Fucking Treasure, Dr. Panti Bliss, AKA Rory O’Neil, makes her Cat Laughs debut this year.

Panti stormed onto the international stage in 2014 with her devastating “Noble Call” and related “shitstorm”. The speech went viral, broadcast around the world – even remixed by the Pet Shop Boys – and was the basis of the award-winning Queen of Ireland documentary. Panti, who is now a cherished as a national cultural object, was once a creature of the fringes and leader avant garde of queer club performance in Dublin in the early 90s. Now she graces the stage of the Kilkenny, hosting similar such freaks and misfits in the Soho Theatre Cat Laughs.

Dara O'Briain

Renowned for his topical humour, story-telling and relentless delivery Dara O Briain brings together hilarious anecdotes and top-class audience banter.

Dara is now a household name in the UK, both for his stand up, and for his numerous television projects including the hugely popular Mock the Week, Three Men in Another Boat, with Griff Rhys Jones and Rory McGrath and Stargazers Live with Brian Cox. Although his best work is, of course, his presenting of RTE’s Echo Island in 1996.
