Edward Aczel began performing stand up in 2005 at the age of 38.
By the end of 2005, he was the runner-up in both prestigious BBC New Comedy Awards and in Jimmy Carr’s Comedy Idol. An “anti-comedy” savant – Ed’s dark, deadpan absurdity has seen him accrew a rabid, cult following.
Ed is now a regular headliner on the comedy circuit, and has performed six solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival. 2007’s show was hailed by Jimmy Carr on BBC2’s Culture Show as “the funniest thing on the Fringe.” In 2008 Ed won the Malcolm Hardee Award and received many of five and four star reviews. More recently he has had a fantastic Edinburgh Fringe 2015, with an extremely well received solo show ‘The Random Flapping of a Butterfly’s Wings’ whilst also acting in award winning ‘Waiting For Gaddot’.
