Sean was with us for the very first festival back in 1995 and it’s always an absolute delight to welcome the legend back to Kilkenny.

Sean was the first Irish comic to win the legendary Perrier Edinburgh comedy award in 1990. Appeared in the music video for Tequila by Terrorvision. Once kissed Kylie Minogue on MTV.

Phill Jupitus is an English stand-up and improv comedian, actor, performance poet, cartoonist and podcaster.

Jupitus was a team captain on BBC Two’s popular music quiz Never Mind the Buzzcocks from its inception in 1996 until its end in 2015, and also appears regularly as a guest on several other panel shows, including QI and BBC Radio 4’s I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.

Emman Idama is originally from Nigeria moving toIreland with his family at a young age. He created a name for himself in school.

Teachers knew him as a disruptive student, his fellow peers knew him as one funny man, making everyone around him laugh with his smile and his jokes. Emman has performed at The Vodafone Comedy Festival, the Kilkenny Cat Laughs, Electric Picnic, Forbidden Fruit, Longitude and numerous clubs. Emman Idama has also appeared on RTE in 2014 & 2015 on “The Year thats In It” and in 2016 he was on Des Bishop’s “This is Ireland”.

Originally from Cavan, Kevin first began performing stand up in 2009 before joining the popular television series The Hardy Bucks on RTÉ 2 as Simcard. After featuring in a number of sketches on the show, Kevin took over as host of Republic of Telly, initially alongside Bernard O’Shea and Jennifer Maguire before flying solo in 2015.

As well as performing in the top Irish comedy clubs, in particular the International Bar in Dublin, he has performed in a number of festivals including Galway Comedy Carnival, Forbidden Fruit and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2013, he toured with his show 2 Grown Men alongside fellow comedian Edwin Sammon.
He presented the documentary Kevin McGahern’s Fast & Furious for RTÉ in 2015. His laid back style was praised for his open mindedness and sense of curiosity. Following on from this, he presented a three-part series in 2016 for RTÉ called Kevin McGahern’s America.

Sarah Francis is a screenwriter and producer from Donegal. As story editor of Fair City oversaw 300 episodes of the television drama. Before moving into screenwriting, she presented radio programmes, worked in the camera department on blockbuster films in Ireland, Britain and the US, directed commercials, and wrote and produced radio documentaries and drama. In 2016, she co-founded the cross-media production company Lucid Lucid with Una Mullally.

 

Una Mullally is a journalist, author and spoken word artist from Dublin. She is a columnist with the Irish Times and contributes to the Guardian. She has presented and produced music series for TG4 and documentaries for RTE. Her first book In The Name Of Love, was an oral history of the movement for marriage equality in Ireland, and she is currently working on her second, an anthology of literature and design emerging from the movement for reproductive rights in Ireland. In 2016, she co-founded the cross-media production company Lucid Lucid with Sarah Francis.

Stefanie Preissner, is blazing a trail as one of the most influential voices of her generation.  Her six-part comedy-drama series Can’t Cope/Won’t Cope, hit RTE 2 screens in September 2016 and heralded a new era in Irish TV with it’s sharp observations on youth culture.  It has been bought for broadcast by BBC Three and commissioned by RTE for a seconded series.

Her one-woman theatre show, Solpadeine is My Boyfriend enjoyed sell-out runs in Dublin before touring internationally to Bucharest, Edinburgh and Australia and – as a radio play – it became RTE’s most downloaded podcast.

With support from the Irish Film Board, Stefanie’s next project is a screenplay in development with Parallel Films (Brooklyn, The Clinic, Intermission). She is also developing a TV Pilot with Channel 4 and has a series of short documentaries in production with RTE.

Rachel Yoder is a writer living in New York but still thinking about Ireland. She graduated from UCC Drama and Theatre Studies in 2009 and spent several years working with Roundhouse Productions, taking Lipstick to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and on a regional tour in Cork.  She participated in TITLE, a residency programme as part of Cork Midsummer’s Solstice Festival in 2012.
